Local Animators Nominated for a BAFTA

15/01/2009

Story imageAnimated short Codswallop by Warwickshire-based duo The Brothers McLeod has been nominated for the 2009 BAFTA award for Best Short Animation.

The short film goes up against heavy-weight contenders Varmints – by former BAFTA winners Sue Goffe and Marc Craste, and the enormously popular Aardman effort Wallace and Gromit: A Matter of Loaf and Death.

According to animator of the pair, Greg McLeod, "Codswallop is a subconscious drift through despair, frustration, joy and redemption." Based around a series of postcards sent by the animator to his son, the short is split-screen and "features a collection of surreal characters at crucial moments in their briefly glimpsed stories."

The Codswallop trailer can be viewed here:

The full short is also to be screened at the next Animation Forum WM event, Shorts on Walls @ Flatpack Festival on Saturday 14th March 2009 (5pm-7pm), The Victoria Pub. To find out how to submit work to this event, please contact Dave Allen at info@animationforumwm.co.uk for details.

Full details on how to submit work to Shorts on Walls and/or attend will follow on this site in the coming days.
