B'ham Studio Win at SIGGRAPH 2008

26/08/2008

Story imageBirmingham animation and video production studio Eight Eyed Sea Bass have won the prestigious Lightwave 3D Grand Prize at the enormous computer graphics conference SIGGRAPH 2008 in Los Angeles, USA.

Their 'Robotochan' 3D animation features a breakdancing robot, created using the Lightwave 3D software by EESB's Dominic Osborne "with some last minute animation help from colleague Paul [Berner]."

SIGGRAPH 2008 (AKA, Special Interest Group on GRAPHics and Interactive Techniques) is the annual global shindig for the CG industry, and attracts competition entries from all over the world. This year, the festival ran between 11th to 15th August in L.A., USA, and featured the likes of LucasFilm, Sony Pictures Imageworks and Pixar showcasing their latest work. SIGGRAPH also happens to be where the latter made it's name in the 1970's and 80's.

A snippet of EESB's Robotochan animation now features prominently on the homepage of the software developers' website, and the full video can be viewed here:
